My Review on Nokia 5130
Posted on August 22, 2009, under Personal.

Its almost two months when I lost my cellphone and only got a new one after almost a month. If you’re wondering why it took me almost a month to get have a new cellphone its because I want to take time to be free from worries of being too attached on this gadget. Be free from answering calls from work, receiving text messages in wee hours or just to be free from being “connected”. I also take time to check what kind of cellphone will I lost, I mean buy.
Initially, I want to buy a dual sim cellphone so I can use two sim card at a time. But wifey advised me to buy Nokia phone since I will be sure for this brand as it known for its durability and friendly features. I told her that since were in tight budget, I want just want an average cellphone with MP3 player with a decent camera which I can use when I’m out with my friends. After thorough checking on the model and prices on the shelves we end up buying the Nokia 5130 model with a price of Php 5,000++ ($100++)
The Nokia 5130 model that I bought had 1GB microSD memory card included in the package. If you not content in 1GB memory card, you can buy a separate 2GB memory card to store your photo, MP3 and videos. It also have decent 2 megapixel integraded camera plus video recording up to 40 seconds. MMS and email capable. It has MP3 and FM Radio with built in louspeaker and dedicated keys for playing music. It is GPRS enable, so you can use it for browsing the internet. With Bluetooth connectivity for sharing of MP3 and photos.
One thing that I really like on this cellphone is I can use it in logging my YM account by using Uzzap application free of charge. If you’re living in the Philippines and using Smart simcard, you can download the Uzzap application and download the application on your cellphone and follow the instructions to start using YM on your cellphone.
On the downside, if you are using your cellphone mostly in sending SMS, you will find its keypad a little to hard to press compare with other Nokia units. Also I’m not satisfied on its quality of video recording when I used it during the funeral cortege of Cory Aquino
Overall, I’m satisfied with my new Nokia 5130 as I can now listen again on my MP3 while on travel and can take pictures when I’m out with friends. I just hope that I will not lost my cellphone again, at least in the coming months.
What about you, what cellphone brand do you use? Are you satisfied on its features? Feel free to share your comments.

Nice review you have here. I am a mobile phone fanatic but I don’t buy brand new because of the fast depreciation of the value. Gadgets are definitely liabilities and not assets. hehe… When I buy second hand, I just make sure that I buy the one in tip top condition.

My cell phone still says welcome to cingular when I turn it on. I hate cell phones. But you need them in emergencies. That is about all we use ours for.
